Hi, I am in the slow, very slow, process of ripping all my blurays to MKV. I am toying with the HTPC option but something a little more basic might do for now. The plan is to have all my bluray rips on a USB harddrive but that will need to change over time as 2tb drive is going to get full fairly quickly Of the various streamers, which is the best for handling local files without too much fuss I don't care about streaming online content etc, all i want is nice and smooth local play back. Only big issue is i want it to be able to output the DTS-MA sound tracks which i notice a few can't.

But think of all that disk space especially when there a multiple versions you dont need A210s arent too expensive at around £200, the C200 are hitting the £300 mark. Depends if chapter support is worth the extra £100 If you went the HTPC route and that also ripped your media then you're probably double that to get an i3 sandybridge etc, cheaper cpu combinations are around but get slower at ripping. My i5 HTPC is currently taking 30-45 mins to rip a bd to mkv depending on the size (Avatar is huge!). I dont think an i3 will be much slower a few mins tops. Encoding is the killer.
